Preparation for an Emergency Situation

This could be for many reasons including severe weather, medical outbreaks, in school incidents or a lockdown.

How we prepare for a School Closure

Before deciding to close the school, the Headteacher, Leadership Team and Governors will consult with the Emergency Services, West Sussex County Council and other Health & Safety Agencies.

When we decide to close our school before the school day has started, we will:

  • Send a text message to all Parents and Carers – we will aim to do this by 7.00am in the morning
  • Update the school website
  • Inform local radio stations
  • Inform West Sussex County Council

If we decide to close our school during the school day, we will:

  • Send a text message to all Parents and Carers
  • Update the school website
  • Depending on circumstances we will continue to keep parents as informed as possible

We would request that you do not call the school to ask about closure, so that we keep our telephone lines free for other safeguarding priorities.

Our staff have been briefed on emergency situations and although we cannot prepare for every incident, we will do our very best to keep your children safe in any event.
