Cricket Tournament at Durrington High School

Reuben, Phoenix, Maria, Matteo, Sophia, Ori, Lucy, Tashu, Eddie and Melo all attended a cricket festival at Durrington High School last Wednesday. They practiced over arm throws, catching and batting skills and all came away having improved their techniques. Cricket teaches us teamwork, patience, and self confidence.  We hope they are looking forward to the opening test match at Lords in June and maybe we will see one of them play there in future!!

Time To Dance

In March, 14 children from Year 2 dazzled and inspired when they took to the stage at the iconic Pavilion Theatre to showcase their dance skills. They had been working hard after school to choreograph and perfect a dance performance on the theme of The Jungle Book. Their cheeky monkey moves and polished sequences of steps were met with wild applause as they performed to parents and young people from schools across the Worthing area as part of this years ‘Time To Dance’ event co-ordinated by The Worthing School Sports Association.

Football Tournament at Orchards Junior School

On Wednesday, 8 of our year 2’s took part in a football tournament being held at Orchards Junior School. Mrs Goacher and Mr Atkinson have been training them up over the last few weeks to sharpen up on their football skills. The tournament was between several other Worthing schools who were put into 5 pools of 4 teams. Springfield won all but 1 of their arranged matches scoring 7 goals overall. They worked so hard and incredibly well as a team making through to the semi-finals. A huge well done to Elliott, Henry, Finn, Benji, Arthur, Otis, Rihanna and Red!

We are delighted to tell you that our year 1 team finished in an excellent 3rd place and our year 2 team also performed strongly finishing 6th. All children received medals, had a lot of fun and set a terrific example of sportsmanship. Well done to Kayden, Neevie, Antony, Nyla Rose, Alex and Shyreen.

Year 1 Rugby Festival at Thomas A Becket Junior School.

This Wednesday, on a cold, breezy but sunny afternoon, a selection of our enthusiastic year 1’s took part in a rugby festival being held at Thomas A Becket Junior School. The Springfield Team were nervous but excited to learn a new sport and showed perseverance and good sportsmanship. They participated in six activities which included kicking, throwing, running and catching. They all had fun and showed great speed and teamwork when running and passing.

A big well done to- Sunny, Rory, Theo, Lenny, Poppy and Stevie!
