KS1 Athletics Competition at St Andrews Secondary School
On Thursday 1st February, the children were finally able to showcase all of their hard work and dedication to compete in a range of indoor athletic tasks. Our Springfield athletic team performed activities from shuttle throw, to speed bounce, to even a relay race!
All of the children had beaming smiles and demonstrated such wonderful team work and support for each other and children from other schools within our locality. Lots of fun was had from us all and all of the hard work and training definitely paid off! Well done to all of the children who participated!
KS1 Gymnastics Competition at Davisons Secondary School 4th January 2024
The children made their way to Davisons through some incredibly heavy rain. After shedding soggy coats and shoes the children were ready to go. They practiced their well learned routines with confidence and smiles.
Our Springfield gymnasts performed marvellously, supporting each other to remember the floor routines and showing the judges their best vault work. The children managed especially well despite the vault table being higher than the one they had been practicing on.
All our gymnasts behaved wonderfully and it was a pleasure to watch them compete. Well done Team Springfield!
New Age Kurling Competition
On 16th November we took 3 Springfield teams to compete at the KS1 Inclusive New Age Kurling Competition at Durrington Junior School. The children made us all very proud as they supported each other, taking turns to roll their kurling stones towards the target. The children talked about their tactics as they tried knocking the stones belonging to competing teams out of the way! The children all did a brilliant job, all winning medals and coming in 2nd place overall ! Well done Team Springfield!

Year 1 Rugby Festival at Thomas A Becket Junior School.
First any Year 1 children who wanted to give Rugby a try went for a taster session with Mrs Kingston. Our most enthusiastic Rugby stars were then selected to go to the Rugby Festival.
Our team of super Year 1 rugby players took part in a wide variety of activities that put into practice all the skills they’ve been working on over the past few weeks, such as passing the ball, kicking, and working as a team. Despite the gusty conditions, all those that took part impressed with their enthusiasm and willingness to give it a go!
Unfortunately some of our Rugby team were poorly on the day of receiving their certificates in our Celebration Assembly.
