Basic Skills

The Primary Quality Mark is a nationally recognised symbol of good practice in the teaching of basic skills (reading, writing, spelling and maths).  It is reviewed by outside professionals every three years. This was awarded for the fifth time in November 2013 and sixth in November 2016.

Investors in Health and Healthy Schools Status

Both awards are presented to schools that can demonstrate the actions they take to improve the health and well-being of both staff and pupils.  The school continues to review its practices annually to maintain its healthy schools status.

Dyslexia Friendly School Award

Awarded in recognition that the school meets the requirements to teach dyslexic pupils.

Eco-School

Springfield pupils learn to look after the environment within school and the wider community.   Through the efforts of our school community we have already gained both the bronze and silver awards.  The school has an Eco Action Team which includes pupils who are also Eco Monitors.  The Action Team has worked hard to consult with the school community and to produce an action plan to achieve a more sustainable environment.  Actions have included reaching out to parents with advice, information and support on domestic energy saving measures and distributing low energy light bulbs to parents to achieve the bronze award and reducing the amount of waste the school produces to achieve the silver award.   We have now a productive Eco team of children that are continually working towards making Springfield a better eco–school.

Activemark

This is awarded for exceptional delivery within the national PE and sport strategy.

Youth Sports Trust

Champion of School Sport Award.  We were the first ever Primary School to win this award, given as recognition of the amount of school sport we include in our curriculum and the innovative way we use our lunchtimes to increase and encourage the amount of physical activity children undertake during the school day.
